Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Green-top (sodium
heparin) tube. Gas-tight glass tube, plastic syringe, capillary
pipette or collection tube are acceptable but should be
tightly-sealed after draw.
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL
Collection Instructions: Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere.
Stability: See specimen transport

Stability: 1 hour at 20-26 C
* If unable to get to the performing lab within 1 hour of draw:
- Order a misc lab "Z1000" to be sent to Mayo (CAI),
Mayo specimen requirements
- Serum Gel Tube (GOLD)
-Send to Mayo in UNOPENED original collection tube. DO NOT POUR OVER.
- Allow blood to clot for 30 minutes
-Centrifuged with stopper in place for 10 minutes at 3,000 rpm to ensure that the gel barrier separates the serum and cells
-Keep specimen anaerobic
-Serum gel tube/Microcontainer must be centrifuged within 1 hour of draw time
-Stability: 7 days (R)
