Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube: Nasopharyngeal swabs and sterile containers

Specimen Volume: 2 swabs of nasopharynx

Collection Instructions: One swab is inoculated directly into media and other is placed in sterile container with sterile saline.

Note: 1. Label containers with patient’s name (first, last, and middle initial), medical record number (if appropriate), date of birth and/or Social Security number, and date and time of collection.

2. Specimen source is required.
