Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, 24-hour collection

Container/Tube: Plastic urine container
Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Collection Instructions: Collect without preservative and keep refrigerated or on ice.  Note for Lab:  Acidify to a pH of <4 after collection.

Additional Information:1.  If urine was collected without HCL, pour HCL into an aliquot tube, empty the HCL out of the aliquot tube, pour an aliquot of the urine into the acid rinsed aliquot tube. In an effort to prevent dilution, do not add drops of acid to the specimen.                                                                                                                            

2. 24-Hour volume is required.
