Specimen Requirements
Red-top tube prewarmed for 10 minutes at 37° to 40° C prior to draw is required.
Specimen Type: Serum
Collection Container/Tube: Plain, red-top tube
Submission Container/Tube: Prewarmed plastic vials
Specimen Volume: 15 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Fasting.
2. Specimen must clot in 37° C water bath for 1 hour.
3. After clotting, spin down immediately and send serum poured off into prewarmed vials.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Prewarmed vial at 37° to 40° C
Reference Values
<1.0 mg/mL gelling or precipitation in tube incubated 96 hours at 4° C
