Methodology
The syphilis test is an immunoassay for the in vitro qualitative detection of total antibodies (IgG and IgM) to Treponema pallidum in human serum. It is intended as an aid in the diagnosis of syphilis infection in conjunction with clinical signs and symptoms.
The RPR is a nontreponemal qualitative test. If reactive, the sample will be reflexed to have a quantitative titer. If non-reactive, the sample will be sent to the Mayo Clinic Laboratories for additional treponemal antibody test. Please allow 2-7 days.
Test Set Up
SYPH - performed M-F in the Chemistry Department on the Cobas Pro CE.
RPRRT & RPRT - manually performed M-F mornings in the Chemistry Department
