Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Female and Male- Urine, Endocerivical swab specimens, patient-collected vaginal swab specimens
Container/Tube: Xpert Urine transport reagent tube, Xpert Vaginal/Endocervical/Specimen Collection Kit or Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit.
Specimen Volume: Urine 10--20mls
Collection Instructions: First-catch urine. Must be preserved using Xpert urine trasport within 4 hours of collection or refrigerated. Unpreserved up to 4 days. Endocervical / vaginal specimens collected using only Xpert swabs.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Urine- Room temp 15-30oC up to 4 hours, Refrigerated 2-8oC 4 days
Swab- 2-30oC
