Important Note

The Affirm VPIII Microbial Identification Test is a DNA probe test intended for use in the detection and identification of Candida species, Gardnerella vaginalis and Trichomonas vaginalis nucleic acid in vaginal fluid specimens from patients with symptoms of vaginitis/vaginosis.

NOTE:  This test replaces Wet Prep, KOH and Gram stain for vaginal specimens.

Specimen Requirements

The patient's name and collection date must be written on a patient label. Client must the label around the top of the transport tube directly under the cap.
The collected specimen may be stored at room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F) or refrigerated (2-8°C or 36-46°F).

Specimen Transport Temperature

The Affirm VPIII Ambient Temperature Transport System (ATTS):
Transport at room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F)

Stable for 72 hours (Ambient)

Reference Values

Negative for Candida albicans, Gardnerella vaginalis, Trichomonas vaginalis
