Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Dark-blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)
Specimen Volume: 4 mL
Collection Instructions:
Phlebotomy needle must be 21 gauge or larger to prevent platelet activation.
Clear top discard tube must be drawn prior to TEG tube.
Specimen must NOT be sent through the pneumatic system. Deliver to lab immediately with tube kept horizontal until tested.
Do not centrifuge.
